The Short Version

I manage CHAPS and BACS payment operations at a UK financial institution. I'm Technical Architect for a top-10 global specialty insurer. I'm CPO and CTO for an insurance technology product suite targeting the Bermuda specialty market.

I don't advise on payments, insurance, or architecture from the outside. I do this work daily, in production, at scale. kaano.io exists to make that expertise available to organisations that need it.

What I've Done

Payments Infrastructure

Engineering management of UK payment scheme operations — CHAPS (real-time gross settlement) and BACS (bulk payments). This means ISO 20022 message processing, scheme connectivity, reconciliation, exception handling, and operational monitoring across two of the UK's core payment rails. I manage the teams, the technology, and the operational risk.

Insurance Technology

Technical architecture for one of the world's leading specialty insurers. Built underwriting workbenches, claims platforms, and document management systems for the specialty/London/Bermuda market. Designed and built Context AI — an AI-native insurance product suite (underwriting workbench, document management, claims processing) targeting small-medium MGAs.

Architecture & Engineering

25+ years of .NET and C# across the full platform evolution. CQRS and event sourcing in production with Cosmos DB. Azure-native cloud architecture. Event-driven distributed systems. I've built systems from scratch and modernized legacy systems without stopping the business. I think in systems — not just the current requirement, but the forces that will shape the system over the next five years.

kaano.io is a UK-registered technology consultancy. I work remotely with clients across the UK, Europe, and Bermuda. Engagements range from fixed-price assessments (1–4 weeks) to ongoing advisory retainers.
